Sustainable construction management practices in a Brazilian medium-sized city

Abstract The construction industry has a great impact on the environment worldwide. diffusion of sustainability concepts led to improve environmental performance in building projects. This paper aims identify sustainable practicesadopted by managers industryin medium-sized city Brazil. An online surveywith17 questions regarding knowledgeand application strategies project design and management was applied managersin industry. sample considered 20 companies, members city’s Civil Construction Union. Results show that, despite being aware principles their importance, only 30% companies apply at least one strategy related waste management, production, sound, visual, water soil pollution energy consumption. may contribute development encourage sector.
